Continuing the French theme in film viewing, recently screened Henri-Georges Clouzot's 1943 whodunit, Le Corbeau (The Raven). Made during the Nazi occupation of France, it seems to have a symbolic meaning as well as its overt storyline. Set in a hospital in a French village, the film dramatizes the paranoia that sweeps over the population as anonymous letters of denunciation rain down (literally), written by "Le Corbeau."
